Learn 2 Learn

Curriculum Ambition

Learning how to learn is fundamental to students’ success, both in their curricular subjects and in their personal lives. The Year 7 Learn to Learn (L2L) Scheme of Work teaches every child the skills and understanding they require to achieve the best they can in every subject they study. It also provides them with many critical tools to be successful and caring citizens in the classroom, in their wider school environment, at home and in their wider community, preparing them to be successful citizens in a changing world.

The overarching ethos of the programme is to develop self-awareness and this is achieved by providing a stimulating and thought-provoking scheme of work (Learning Journey) that foster a spirit of enquiry, creating many moments of awe and wonder on the way. The lessons have been carefully written by Poynton High school staff and are thought-provoking, dynamic, unusual and engaging. There are 14 topics studied by all students over the one-year programme which challenge and inspire their thinking and have a positive impact, both on their own lives and the lives of those around them.

The L2L programme links to and adds to the PSHCE Curriculum and successfully supports the Student Development Day provision.
