Year 8 Weekly Bulletin
Monday 8th June 2020
Dear Parents, Carers and young people,
I hope this bulletin finds you and your families safe and well. I also hope that you are feeling much more confident with Google Classroom and have had the chance to log on and ask your teachers some questions. It was great to see so many responses on the quiz I posted last Monday! As staff we have been continuing with our training to use Google Classroom too so over the next week or so you may start to see more activities appearing on your classrooms. Over the last week I have really taken advantage of our Disney Plus subscription – ‘Zootropolis’ is a film recommendation from me for this week!
Google Classroom Book Club
Come and get involved in a brand new book club (called The Book Warriors) that will be delivered using Google Classroom. It will be running for 4 weeks starting on Thursday 25th June at 1.20pm. I can promise that you will not be disappointed by the books I've chosen as they are both engaging and exciting. This book club is suitable for year 7 and 8 students. Use the class code qqln5pl to find out more information on The Book Warriors.

As we continue to use Google Classroom as a way of communicating regularly with our young people, these weekly Year Team bulletins will move to a weekly Google Classroom bulletin on the Year page. Parents and carers will continue to be updated by Mr Waugh. Our aim is to focus on remote contact directly with our young people using a platform through which they can engage directly to ask questions and clarify their understanding of any notices.
As a school, our focus is to provide the best educational experience possible at this time. If you have any concerns regarding the ability of your child to access work that is set, or anything that may be a barrier to them completing work, please get in touch with the year teams so that we can support your child at this time. Finally, please remember that although we are not physically in school, we are still a community and we will do everything we can to support you and your learning during this time. If ever you need anything, send me a tweet or drop me an email. Have a lovely week.
Stay safe, keep learning and look after yourselves and your families,
Miss E Keaveney
