Key Stage 4 Weekly Bulletin
Date: Monday 20th April 2020
Dear Parents, Carers and young people,
I hope you have had an enjoyable and restful Easter break; it may not be the Easter break we are used to, but hopefully you have had the chance to have a break from school work and focus on some other activities, as well as spending time together as a family.
As we move into this new half term, it is important for you to get back into a routine of doing school work; following a timetable and having a clear workspace are really good ways to help you stay focused. Your teachers will have set new work for you on doddle and will continue to do so over the coming weeks. Make sure you check doddle each day – download documents to your computer or phone where you can so that you can revisit the work offline. Well done for all of your hard work so far, and remember if you are stuck or need help with some work, you can do the following:
- Look back through your exercise books – loads of tips in there!
- Ask a friend – could you ask someone else in your class for some help? Or work through the problem together?
- BBC Bitesize – this is an excellent platform for revision or testing yourself, but also might be a good way to help you with anything you are struggling with. As of today, 20th April BBC Bitesize will be publishing daily online lessons.
- Get in touch – if you can’t find a solution, get in touch with me and I can help or pass it on to the member of staff. You could also follow the different departments on twitter as there may be some helpful hints on there too!
Year 10 – Whilst it can be very challenging to establish a new way of working, it is a necessity at this time. Your teachers are setting lots of work on Doddle to ensure that you remain up to date with your courses. If you are struggling in any way, don’t be afraid to drop your teachers an email. We are here to help!
Year 11 – To support our Year 11 students with the transition to A level work our staff have been working over Easter or on work packs to support this next stage of learning. Mr Hardman our Director of Sixth Form will be sharing all this information with you over the next couple of days.
In order to offer the bespoke support our young people will need with this transition period Mrs Hardicre who is the Year Leader for Year 12 will take over the Leadership of the year group from now. Her email contact is CLH@phs.cheshire.sch.uk. Myself and Mrs Handby are completing a full handover with the Sixth Form team but we are still here to support the students over the coming weeks.
PHS ROCKS - We have been inspired by the positivity of the young people in our school community, we would like to introduce PHS Rocks, our initiative to share some positivity and create a bright and colourful space in school for staff and students. We would love students to get involved in painting their own rocks, ready to bring into school to be a part of our 'rock garden' when we return. Please see the PHS Rocks poster on Twitter and our website for more information.
I would love to see pictures of what you are doing, so tweet or email me! It’ll help us to feel connected as a year team.
Stay safe, keep learning and look after yourselves and your families,
Mrs R. Dempsey
