Gift Aid / School Fund

An important message from the Head Teacher

VOLUNTARY FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO POYNTON HIGH SCHOOL
Our Gift Aid and School Fund schemes for voluntary financial contributions have been an important source of funds for many years. I hope you will consider supporting your child’s school in this way. Please contact our Director of Business and Finance if you require further information about either scheme.

Gift Aid

The Gift Aid scheme is administered by the Friends of Poynton High School. This is a registered charity with the objective of improving the learning environment in school. Contributions to Gift Aid carry an additional advantage in that the charity is able to reclaim tax from the Inland Revenue, effectively increasing your contribution by 28%.

The Friends of Poynton High School trustees decide how funds are spent, insisting that monies are allocated only to schemes that benefit students’ learning experiences.

For example, in recent years Gift Aid has funded:

3D Laser printer for Technology

New audio visual equipment for Performing Arts

Emergency satellite navigation phone for our extensive Duke of Edinburgh expedition provision

Outdoor picnic benches for students

Additional outdoor basketball court and outdoor table tennis tables

School Fund

For those who do not wish the long term commitment of Gift Aid we also have a School Fund. This is a vital source of finance for items we otherwise find it difficult to fund, in particular the operation of our two minibuses. The costs of insurance, MOT, tyres and other maintenance are considerable. School Fund also provides support for many other important activities. Contributions are collected annually through the form tutor.

What should I do?

If you wish to contribute to our Gift Aid scheme please complete a "Deed of Gift Aid" available on the link on the right hand side of this page. Please return this to your child's Form Tutor as soon as possible. You may wish to post the reply. If so, please address the envelope for the attention of the Director of Business and Finance.

Please note that contributions to Gift Aid by Direct Debit start in the month of January. We hope that parents will continue to donate over the full period their child is in school. However, you are able to cancel the donation at any time should circumstances change. You may already contribute to the Gift Aid scheme through students already at school. Some parents decide to extend their contributions to take account of this. This, of course, is much appreciated.

Should you not wish to contribute to the Gift Aid Scheme or be unable to do so, we would still welcome any contributions to School Fund you feel able to make. I do hope you are able to give the school your financial support and enhance the service we provide to all our students. We are extremely grateful for any donations made and I promise you that the money will be put to good use.
